We currently have an exciting opportunity for a fixed term Speciality Doctor role in the department of Working Age Adults (WAA) Psychiatry and will be working under supervision of WAA Consultant Tandridge CMHRS.

WAA community services aim to provide clinically focused & person-centred care based on recovery model. We have a dynamic & innovative MDT which is passionate promoter of good mental health.

This vacancy has arisen following the move of current post holder. The post holder will be encouraged to join weekly Trust-wide academic program & will have opportunities to participate in research, leadership activities, clinical audits & quality improvement.

Our Offer:

    • NHS Specialty grade £59,175 - £95,400 per annum + £149 fringe + on- call requirement
    • Up to £2000/year CPD allowance subject to policy requirements
    • NHS pension employers contribution 23.7% from day one.

Main duties of the job

The Specialty Doctor will be part of Tandridge multidisciplinary team and work in close collaboration with colleagues. The duties will include conducting assessments for individuals referred to the team by local referrers, providing ongoing follow-up and psychiatric intervention, effective communication with local GPs and liaison with other services and agencies.

You will be required to assess referrals & undertake mental state examinations of service users. To participate in weekly ward rounds & attend multidisciplinary meetings. You will be required to attend Care Programme Approach & Section 117 meetings & mental health review tribunals.

Providing up-to-date clinical information at all meetings and to ensure that medical decisions are implemented as planned.

  • MB BS or equivalent recognised medical qualification
  • Full medical registration with a license to practice
  • Approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act (or within 6 to 12 months of the time of interview/assessment) or equivalent

Desirable

  • Relevant higher degree, e.g. MD, PhD, MSc or other additional clinical qualifications
  • MRCPsych or equivalent
  • Management qualification or evidence of an interest in developing leadership skills

Eligibility

  • Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months.
  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment

Desirable

  • In good standing with GMC or equivalent with no concerning warnings or conditions on practice

Clinical Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Knowledge of Risk Management
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance and literature and its implications for clinical practice
