Job summary

My job makes better lives by supporting the delivery of recovery-focused, pscyho-educational courses as part of a tiered programme for people with traits, or a diagnosis, of Personality Disorder (PD) and their carers. The aim of the Managing Emotions Programme is to help train and empower people to develop the skills to manage their own recovery or the recovery of those they care for or work with.

The post holder will deliver the 3 tiers of recovery-focused, psycho-educational courses related to improving the self-management of emotional intensity to group members. They will support the recruitment, management and supervision of Managing Emotions Programme (MEP) staff along with the clinical lead and service manager. They will have direct involvement in the development, delivery and evaluation of the MEP.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide leadership to the service, alongside the Team Manager and Senior Clinical Lead, to provide an effective, high quality service which enhances the co-production of PD recovery-focused courses.
  • To support the co-delivery of the courses, offering a range of recovery-focused, psycho-educational courses aiming to improve the self-management of traits, or a diagnosis, of PD and co-deliverv specific courses for carers.
  • To lead on the evaluation of the MEP, supporting the use of relevant and appropriate outcome measures.
  • To provide supervision to the Band 5 Expert Trainer / Mental Health Practitioner.

  • To support the co-development and evaluations of the carers provision by promoting a focus on carers health and wellbeing, including young carers.
  • To carry out reviews of individuals who may need time and support in order for them to engage them in the programme or to connect them to alternative community provision.
  • To support the development and promotion of the Managing Emotions Programme in Surrey Heartlands and Frimley Health ICS.
  • To embody the recovery ethos of the service and co-production principles through compassionate working.
  • To be able to reflect on and contain own response to group interpersonal dynamics

  • BSc Hos Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy, Mental health nursing or equivalent
  • Professional registration with the relevant body i.e NMC or HCPC

Experience

Essential

  • Postgraduate/post-qualification experience working with people who have mental health difficulties for minimum of 2 years
  • 1 year minimum experience of providing clinical supervision to others
  • Experience of groupwork, teaching or training others (2 year minimum)
  • Experience delivering one or more of the main therapies DBT, CBT, ACT or similar
  • Experience of working as a senior member of an MDT
