Job summary

This is part time role, 22.5hrs.

We would like to welcome an experienced, enthusiastic and innovative Principal Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to provide clinical leadership to our Older People's psychologists. You will be working alongside other senior operational and clinical leads to maintain a culture of compassionate, person-centred care, where staff feel appreciated and valued.

Our Older People's community mental health services provide specialist care to older people with mental health problems and dementia. This post will provide professional leadership and supervision for the Psychologists working in the two community teams across the Surrey Downs and East Surrey area of our Trust.

You will be professionally and clinically supervised by the Lead Consultant Psychologist for Older People's services, and receive specialist group neuropsychology supervision from a Clinical Neuropsychologist.

You will join an established group of psychologists working with older people across Surrey and North East Hampshire. We are a friendly and supportive department with a strong culture of furthering specialist skills and professional development.

The service has strong links with the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Training Program at the University of Surrey, where we regularly provide placements and contribute to teaching on the programme.

Main duties of the job

Across all the community teams there is a strong multidisciplinary approach, where psychology is seen as a valuable resource. You will be working collaboratively with teams and the senior leadership team where you will help to develop the role of psychology within the service, and play a key role in the shaping of culture and processes in our teams.

You will ensure our team of qualified Psychologists and Assistant Psychologists are providing evidence-based, safe and high quality care. As a compassionate leader, you will ensure the team feel engaged, valued, and supported to develop in their roles.

The clinical sessions for this post are in the Mid Surrey community team, based in Epsom. Your role will involve delivering psychological and neuropsychological assessments and interventions for older people with mental health and dementia presentations. You will support the team with specialist psychological aspects of the work offering consultation and training.

You will also contribute to the leadership and development of the wider Older People's Psychology provision across the Trust as part of a team of senior Psychologists.

Travel to different sites and for home visits is required as part of the role.
