Job summary
We are looking to recruit Registered and Newly Qualified Mental Health Nurses at The MeadowsIn-patient Unit, primarily for the care of people who have dementia or organic mental ill health.
We have various wards and our rehabilitation service is looking forMental Health Nurses with experience ornewly qualified staff.
As a Mental Health Nurse, you will be given the opportunity to learn and grow into your role, if you are an experienced Band 5 nurse looking to progress, we have many opportunities to expand your knowledge and prepare you for your career progression. You will be a source of mental health knowledge, have vision and resilience to support the ward and your colleagues in keeping the ward environment safe and productive.
This is a 24/7 hospital service with 24 beds available for the care of people aged over 65 years who have dementia or organic mental ill-health (ie. decreased function due to medical or physical disease rather than a psychiatric illness).
There are three single sex wards, each with eight beds:
- One ward is for people with mental ill-health (functional, eg. bipolar or depression)
- Two wards are for people with dementia
We are a multi disciplinary team including Occupational Therapists and psychology support.
Although we are a Mental Health Trust, we are open to applications from adult, paediatric and learning disability branches.
Main duties of the job
You will assess, plan, implement and evaluate the nursing care for a defined caseload. You will also supervise, mentor and teach qualified and unqualified staff including students. Please see job description for full responsibility.
As well as traditional posts in our In-Patient Units, the Trust also offer a rotational programme which offers you the opportunity to undertake three 6 month placements starting in our in-patient services (Working Age or Older Adult services), then moving to community home treatment services (Working Age or Older Adult). A driving licence suitable for the UK is required for these placements and the final placement would be working with one of our specialist services such as CAMHS Community, Eating Disorders, Criminal Justice and Liaison amongst others.
