Job summary

Are you interested in developing your career as an HCPC registered applied psychologist in intensive care? As well as being a member of the intensive care teams based at Ashford and St Peter's hospitals, you will be part of a network of around 30 psychologists working both within Ashford and St Peters hospitals and across the other acute and community trusts that Surrey and Borders Foundation Trust support. Within our network there are a range of additional training and interests including: trauma informed care, systemic approaches, sports and exercise, CFT, ACT, neurodivergence and the widening participation in psychology agenda. The network provides opportunities for mentorship, supervision and professional development. The post is professionally managed through the Clinical Health Psychology Department in Surrey and Borders Partnership Foundation Trust.

Psychology is a highly valued and developing resource in both ICU services and both teams are keen to work with psychology to shape the service and the psychological care pathways.

Main duties of the job

You will have experience of working in physical healthcare contexts and be trained in different therapeutic and psychological approaches. You will hold a key role in consultation to ICU staff, training, audit and evaluation of all aspects of the service. You will have the opportunity to meet regularly with and be a part of our wider Clinical Health Psychology Network, who provide input across the adult sector in pain, stroke, community neuropsychology cardiac, specialist weight management, specialist gastroenterology, diabetes, cystic fibrosis and staff wellbeing. You will receive regular peer support and clinical supervision and have access to a range of psychologists with a wide range of skills and interests.
