Job summary

We have a vacancy for three days (22.5 hours) per week band 8a Senior Clinical/Counselling Psychologist at Woking CMHRS (Community Mental Health Recovery Service).

We welcome qualified Clinical/Counselling Psychologists to apply for this post. If you enjoy working in a friendly multi-disciplinary team, and with service users with a range of clinical presentations, then this could be the job for you. We offer regular supervision and CPD events. You will have opportunities to regularly connect with psychologists working in the Northwest locality of our Trust. We would welcome applicants who preferably have experience of working in a community mental health team or in secondary care services.

In our CMHRS we see adults with complex, severe, and enduring mental health problems. The principles and philosophy of care are based on the recovery model and NICE evidenced based interventions. The successful candidate will be responsible for the provision of highly specialist psychology services for this client group. He/she would be working closely with other psychologists, multi-disciplinary team members and other teams.

This is an exciting time to join SABP as we are at the forefront of developing services and have received additional funding through NHS England to transform our community and crisis services.

Main duties of the job

  • To assess, plan, implement and evaluate the psychological needs of people using our services
  • To mentor, supervise and teach qualified and unqualified staff
  • Promoting a psychological perspective both within teams and sharing with other colleagues
  • Work collaboratively with team managers/ clinical leads in the development and delivering of effective services
  • The post holder will be expected to work flexibly within the service
  • To lead on complex and challenging cases and develop expertise within area of specialism
  • Participating in the recruitment and selection of staff
  • Leading on a specific service development projects
