Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed graduate with an interest in developing clinical experience and skills, to join our friendly community mental health recovery team based near Hampton Court in the borough of Elmbridge. The post is 2.5 days a week and ideally the candidate needs to work on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The half day will be negotiable.
As an assistant psychologist you will provide psychological assessment and 1:1 and group psychological interventions under the supervision of a qualified psychologist, working independently according to a plan agreed with a qualified psychologist and within the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures.
You will assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, development of audit and/or research projects, and project work. The successful applicant will have contact with patients or service users.
The candidate must have a full and valid driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes due to the community element of this role.
Main duties of the job
- To carry out comprehensive assessments, and psychology interventions under the supervision of a psychologist as part of a holistic approach working in a variety of settings.o To take appropriate and immediate action to keep people safe in a crisis or safeguarding situation, reporting back to a senior colleague in a timely manner.o To observe and document any changes in wellbeing of the people that they are supporting, reporting to the professional or team manager any new or change in risk or presentation of the person, and updating risk assessments as required.o To work in partnership with people in other health and social care settings.o To be aware of and implement Safeguarding Adult and Child Protection Policies, Procedures and legislation.o To contribute to conducting clinical audit and research, maintaining current knowledge of research findings and development within the relevant field.o To participate in quality assurance activities as required.
