Job summary
The Children and Young People's (CYPS) Directorate in Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is offering an exciting opportunity for a Band 4 Asst. Psychologist to join the well-established multi-disciplinary Community Team for Children and Young People with Learning Disabilities.This role will entail supporting the team's behaviour clinics and our ASD assessment pathway.
The behaviour clinics aim support parents and carers of CYP with LDs with behavioural challenges. This is an intensive service conducted over 4 appointments,resulting in the development of a behaviour support plan. This part of the role will include conducting the initial and follow up phone appointments with parents(inc completing outcome measures),carrying out observations of the CYP at home,speaking with school about the CYP,joining the behaviour clinic appointments with clinicians to assess and feedback around the CYP's behaviour and support plan.
The ASD pathway part of the role will include being trained in taking dev histories of ASD symptoms,report compilations for assessment clinics, completing school obs,as well as being trained to support in the completion of ADOS assessments. It will also include supporting the running of the ASD case discussion meetings, taking minutes and updating notes,maintaining and updating any databases and wait lists, updating resources and report templates in line with current guidance and supporting the general administration and running of the ASD pathway.
Main duties of the job
You will be joining at a very exciting time, as our services continue to adopt the Thrive Framework in close collaboration with the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust and the Surrey Wellbeing Partnership. The CYPS-LD service is a Surrey wide community-based team providing support to CYP (age 0-18) with LDs and their families. The post offers excellent opportunities to work within a vibrant multidisciplinary team who work with CYP with LDs across the spectrum of need and in a wide variety of services. You will be joining a staff team who are passionate about improving the lives of CYP with LDs and their families, and are continually developing and implementing different approaches to meet peoples' needs.
These posts will be suitable for a passionate and highly motivated assistant psychologist interested in ensuring excellent psychological care is accessible for CYP with LDs and other complex needs from diverse backgrounds. Knowledge and experience of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Learning Disabilities (LDs) would be desirable. This is a permanent post (37.5 hours).
