Job summary
The Psychologically Informed Consultation and Training (PICT) service sits within the Primary Care Personality Disorder Pathway. This pathway is part of the Community Mental Health Transformation Programme and was chosen to be 1 of 12 early implementer sites across England to lead on Transformation. PICT sits alongside our MEP (Managing Emotions Programme) and SUN (Service User Network) services.
The post holder will bring their knowledge and experience of working with people with a diagnosis or difficulties associated with personality disorder to provide a leadership role within the PICT Service by ensuring development and delivery of high quality training and consultation in the area of personality disorder. You will develop and co-deliver with lived experience colleagues, consultation and training to multi-disciplinary teams, service users, and providers across Primary Care Networks, including voluntary sector and local authority teams. Upskilling staff to work more effectively with people with traits, or a formal diagnosis of 'personality disorder'.
There will be a specific emphasis on leadership and service development to establish the provision of consultation and training across primary care with a strategic focus on embedding the PICT model within GP practices across Surrey Heartlands and NE Hampshire. In addition to providing clinical leadership, supervision and guidance to junior colleagues and the MDT.
Main duties of the job
- To utilise a high level of expert knowledge and experience of evidence-based interventions in working with EUPD, as well as a comprehensive understanding of the wider theory, research and models of relevance to the field.
- To bring a personal and professional approach and leadership style that enables positive engagement, containment, and skills development relevant to work with the client group. In addition to using leadership skills to engage with key stakeholders and primary care colleagues across the community mental health transformation programme
- Extensive post qualification clinical experience in relevant clinical setting
- Experience of leading in clinical practice, service development or project work.
- Experience of supervising trainees, assistant psychologists, qualified clinical/counselling psychologists and others providing psychological therapies.
- Experience of implementing change following audit and service evaluation
- Demonstrable experience of developing complex formulations drawing on multiple psychological models
- Experience of teaching/training professionals from a range of backgrounds.
- Experience of advising other professionals on complex psychological issues and risk
