As part of a busy CYPS Directorate and alongside our Alliance Partnership including local voluntary sector organisations, you will be ensuring children, young people and families/carers are at the centre of decision making to promote person centred care and outcomes. You will support our Intensive Intervention (IIT) specialist team, New Leaf, in the implementation of the getting help and getting more help elements of the ITHRIVE framework. New Leaf Service is a highly thought of specialist service, providing community based assessment and treatment to children and young people who are in care, leaving care, adopted or under Special Guardianship orders.

Changing the way in which we deliver services, the THRIVE Framework is an integrated, person centred and needs led approach to delivering mental health services for children, young people and families which conceptualises need in five categories; Thriving, Getting Advice and Signposting, Getting Help, Getting More Help and Getting Risk Support. Emphasis is placed on the promotion of mental health and wellbeing, and for children, young people, and their families to be empowered to be actively involved in decisions about their care through shared decision making.

Main duties of the job

The role will focus on supporting children and young people, and when appropriate involving their carers/parents in systemic family work to provide support for their emotional and mental health needs with specific focus on working with children who present with developmental trauma and attachment issues. The role will also involve providing expertise to the network and building and maintaining effective partnerships with Surrey Children's Services, Surrey Children's Homes, Surrey Post Adoption service, education and other professionals. There are opportunities for delivery of therapeutic group work, to both carers/parents and to young people.

Candidates will be highly motivated and skilled, professionally registered mental health practitioners and have a minimum of 3 years post-qualifying experience in working with children and young people in the field of mental health, ideally with a specific experience and understanding of the complex needs of these young people. We welcome applications from professionals qualified and registered in social work, art therapy, nursing, occupational therapy, family therapy.

You will work in a dedicated and supported multi- professional team which includes social workers, nurses, psychology, psychiatry, psychotherapy, occupational therapy and arts therapies.
