Job summary
Working with Older Adults in Mid and East Surrey, this is a brilliant opportunity to join the Older Adults Intensive Support Team.
This role is vital to delivering excellence in dementia care. This will be done by bringing professional skills and expertise to support the implementation of the care home pathway within each CMHTOP. Promoting health by delivering occupational therapy assessments, interventions and consultation within a Positive Behaviour Support framework within generic and specialised services; and providing clinical leadership, supervision and guidance to care homes pathway staff. This role will supervise an occupational therapy assistant and mental health graduate worker working in the care homes pathway.
We have a robust internal supervision and CPD offer which includes providing a range of Core skills, occupational therapy forums and e learning.
Main duties of the job
1. To provide compassionate and effective leadership to junior staff including support staff and assistants within the Care home pathway and IST
2. To strengthen and actively contribute to the overall leadership of the service.
3. To provide high quality and evidence based occupational therapy assessment and interventions and consultation to people with complex needs who access services and their carers/supporters/family members, generic and specialised n line with the occupational therapy and service pathways
4. To communicate effectively with a range of clinicians, managers, directors, associate directors, people who access services, carers/supporter/family members, stakeholders and agencies.
5. To provide supervision and mentoring to occupational therapists within the occupational therapy service.
6. To ensure the delivery occupational therapy student placements.
7. To actively contribute to the continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities within the wider occupational therapy service.
The position provides leadership across the following services Intense Support Team across Mid and East Surrey. The post holder will be expected to work flexibly within all the older peoples community services, as need arises.
