Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our expanding Nurse Endoscopist team on a permanent basis. We are looking to recruit a motivated, enthusiastic and flexible team player on a full time basis.

The Nurse Endoscopist team provide a highly specialised service to our patients and work closely together to be able to so.

Main duties of the job

Lead the co-ordination of care for a defined caseload of patients requiring diagnostic and/or therapeutic gastrointestinal endoscopy.

Undertake independent Upper and/or Lower therapeutic gastrointestinal endoscopy.

Prescribe medication, or work within Patient Group Directions to administer medication for patients undergoing endoscopic procedure according to Trust protocols and the British National Formulary (BNF).

Accept, triage and validate direct referrals from Primary and/or Secondary care for endoscopic procedures according to Trust protocols.

Communicate sensitive and life changing diagnosis to patients when required.

Be responsible for the education and training of learners of all disciplines within own speciality.

Engage in processes to enable the unit to maintain JAG accreditation.

  • Teaching qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Enrolment onto a recognised training course in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and willing to be registered with the Joint Advisory Group as Clinical Endoscopist.
