Job summary

We are looking for a suitably qualified radiographer to apply for the post of a Senior Radiographer position part time. You will work closely with the Deputy General Superintendent Radiographer with a particular emphasis on managing the radiographic services in General X-ray. You will be experienced in all x-ray and fluoroscopy procedures and provide a patient focused professional service. You will have some managerial experience and in conjunction with the Superintendent have the ability to lead the service through changing and challenging times. You will be expected to rotate through all areas of the department.

We actively encourage staff to undertake continuing professional development and extension of the radiographers role. The successful candidate will be given the opportunity to extend their role in line with service needs.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will be required:

  • To work alongside the General and Deputy General superintendent radiographer to develop the services for Ashford and St Peters Hospitals NHS Trust.
  • To take responsibility for radiographic services in General X-ray.
  • To work in conjunction with the superintendent to improve service delivery and service improvement for the benefit of the patient.
  • To maintain high clinical standards, particularly regarding patient care, clinical risk and Health and Safety.
  • To facilitate and co-ordinate patient pathways taking into consideration the local and national target objectives providing advice on developments and future progress of the service.
  • To undertake training and updating staff in the working of the fluoroscopy, promoting best practice techniques.
  • To rotate to other service areas on a regular basis.
  • To undertake the training of student practitioners.
  • To understand the implications of the Health and Safety at Work Act and ensure a safe working environment for patients, staff, visitors and staff according to the Trusts Health and Safety Policy.

The department operates a shift system covering 7 days, working 12 hour shifts. The successful candidate therefore needs to be able to work 3 or 4 shifts a week, either 8am to 8pm or 8pm to 8am. There is an attractive shift allowance given for working this of £5514 per annum.

There is a commitment from the department to ongoing CPD and support additional post graduate training.
