Job summary

Our Adult Inpatient Ward areas are now recruiting we have opportunities based at St Peters Hospital in Chertsey, including

• Acute settings such as Clinical Assessment Unit and Medical Short Stay Unit.
• Surgical Wards
• General and Specialist Medical Wards
• Orthopaedic Wards
• Care of the Elderly settings

Full time and part time posts will be considered, shifts include long days, nights, weekends, and public holidays. Our HCSWs will need the flexibility to cover varied shift patterns over a 7-day period. Shift times are:-

Long day 0715-2000

Night shift 1930-0745

Experienced health care support workers and those that are new to a caring role are all welcome to apply. You must have good communication skills, have competent IT skills, and have a kind, caring and compassionate nature.

As a HCSW you will be a valued member of the team and can make a significant difference to people in your care.

The Trust offers onwards training for HCSWs including working towards the Care Certificate, Maths and English qualifications and the opportunity to apply for the Nursing Associate Apprenticeship which leads to a role as a Registered Nursing Associate.

Main duties of the job

Our Healthcare Support Workers are at the heart of providing direct patient centred care, supporting the Registered Nurses and Nursing Associates as well as the wider Multi-Disciplinary Teams.

The role is varied, equally challenging and rewarding, where you will have the opportunity to really make a difference to the experience of our patients. This could be by supporting patients in their rehabilitation and recovery following an operation or a period of acute illness, caring for patients upon admission to hospital in a fast-paced environment supporting the medical and nursing teams or providing holistic and compassionate care for our more vulnerable patients or those at the end of their life.
