Respiratory Ward Sister / Charge Nurse Band 6: Permanent position: 37.5 hours/week
We are seeking applications for 3
x Band 6 Positions to join our Respiratory team.
We are looking for highly
motivated individuals that are competent shift leaders with respiratory
experience to join our team.
Applicants for the Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse, Maple ward - Band 6 position need not apply as Interviews for this post will take place jointly
with Chestnut Ward to avoid staff having to apply for both.

Main duties of the job
The post
holder will work closely with the Ward Manager & their Band 6 Sister /
Charge Nurse Colleagues. They will work in close conjunction with the
Respiratory Consultants, Matron, Senior ward team, Practice Educator and
Learning & Development Teams
They will act as
a role model and resource, providing information and promoting high standards
of patient care, whilst working closely with other professionals of the wider
Multidisciplinary team.
Chestnut is a busy ward with fluctuating
numbers of Non-invasive ventilation, Airvo and acutely unwell patients. On a
daily basis the ward works closely with the capacity management team to ensure
effective placement taking into consideration acuity, patient allocation and
any isolation requirements and working with teams to flex capacity and movement
of patients to provide a safe environment for our patients and their care delivery.
The Sister / Charge nurse role compliments
the Ward Manager role and responsibilities in providing leadership and support
to the team in the delivery of patient care, monitoring and maintaining acceptable
standards of care in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team.
The postholder will work closely with the ward
manager and services aligned to the ward which in addition to the nursing and
clerical staff which will include physiotherapy team, nutrition, Matron, and
the Divisional Chief Nurse. The post
holder will assist the ward manager and support the wards key priorities including finance and risk.
