Enhanced Care Support Worker - Band 3

Job summary

Ashford & St Peter's Hospitals are expanding their Enhanced Therapeutic and Observation Care Service (ETOC) and will be recruiting a number of Enhanced Care Support Workers (ECSWs)

Reporting directly to the Trust's Enhanced Care Lead we are seeking people that are able to work a varied shift pattern including long days, nights and weekends , in a variety of settings including Urgent and Emergency Care, Older People Services, and Paediatrics

  • Candidates applying for this post must be able to demonstrate within the application form the following essential criteria:
  • Recent and significant UK experience as a health/enhanced care support worker
  • Successfully achieved the Care Certificate
  • Level 3 qualification preferably in a health and social care related subject.

Only candidates that meet the above will be considered for this post, and we especially welcome applications from those with experience in a mental health care setting.

Successful candidates must also have excellent communication skills, excel under pressure, competent IT skills, and have a kind, caring and compassionate nature.

Only applications for candidates already residing in the UK will be considered, remote interviews will not be possible.

Whilst sponsorship may be considered for this post, our focus is finding candidates with the right skills and experience.

Main duties of the job

Our Enhanced Care Support Workers are at the heart of providing direct patient centred care, supporting the Nursing Teams as well as the mental health services and wider Multi-Disciplinary Teams.

The role is varied, equally challenging and rewarding, where you will make a difference to the experience of our patients. The role includes:

  • Providing direct patient care including meeting hygiene, continence, nutrition, pressure area care and mobility needs
  • Taking and recording patients' vital signs, identifying and escalating changes to a patient's condition
  • Providing one to one observation/cohort care for vulnerable patients who present a high risk of harm
  • Providing care and compassion, whilst demonstrating professional behaviour and utilising a range of appropriate communication skills
  • recognise and respond appropriately to the emotional needs of vulnerable patients
  • Support the risk management of vulnerable patients by identifying, reporting and escalating issues of concern.
  • Support the management of challenging or disturbed behaviour in accordance with Trust policies and procedures
  • Under the guidance of registered professionals assist with the therapeutic interventions, maintaining a person centred and holistic approach
  • Support patients to engage in therapeutic activities which promote independence, resilience and well being.
  • Undertaking training and competencies related to the role competencies related to the specific department
  • Escorting patients
