Upper Limb Senior Clinical Fellow

Job summary

Ashford and St. Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust would like to invite applications for a Senior Clinical + Research Fellowship post covering Elective Upper Limb Orthopaedic Surgery (mainly shoulder & elbow), including complex primary & revision arthroplasty, reconstruction (incl. tendon transfers) & sports surgery, under the senior supervision of Mr Rohit Gupta and Mr Ali Narvani, as well as the rest of the Upper Limb Unit, comprising seven upper limb Specialists.

This post(s) will commence inJuly 2026 for a period of 12-15 months, up till October 2027. The post is designed for senior trainees who are ideally post-CCT (or within 6/12 of CCT), and have completed FRCS(Orth) exam from a UK based Orthopaedic training scheme, or those with equivalent additional clinical experience. Ideally this post would suit a senior trainee wishing to consolidate their skills before moving onto an Upper Limb Consultant position.

Main duties of the job

You will have supervised operating lists and will be expected to operate independently during the course of the post, with plenty of surgical opportunities at the Ashford Elective Surgical Centre.

You will attend regular upper limb specialist elective clinics, incl. a monthly tertiary referral complex clinic.

There is a regular middle grade on-call trauma commitment at St. Peter' Hospital, in order to maintain your general trauma experience.

The Unit is a GIRFT Elbow Arthroplasty Regional Hub for South East England, and so this Fellowship will include exposure to trauma & elective elbow arthroplasty, including revision surgery.

You will also be encouraged to participate actively in the unit's clinical research & audit projects, with an expectation to publish / present your work at national / international level during the course of the Fellowship.
