Job summary
To work as an Alcohol Liaison Nurse Specialist and support Alcohol Liaison Senior Specialist Nurse (ALSN) in line with the nursing framework and in accordance with the nursing philosophy of Ashford and St Peter's NHS Trust. To be responsible for the assessment of patient care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care. To promote and help to manage delivery of a quality nursing service, setting and monitoring clinical standards.
We are looking for Band 6 Alcohol Liaison Nurse Specialist to help drive through improvement, service redesign and manage patients care. We are looking for staff to join us who are enthusiastic, hardworking, dedicated and have a passion for delivering the best care to all our patients. We are a dynamic, friendly and supportive team rising to the challenges and hard work required in achieving our Clinical Quality Indictors. We are looking for RGN level 1 nurses ideally with a minimum of 18 months post registration experience at Senior Band 5 or equivalent. Experience in the use of extended roles would be an advantage. Working with the multi-disciplinary team, you will need to have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to motivate and manage, adapting, driving and leading rapidly changing situations.

Main duties of the job
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POST:
Clinical
Follow-up patients with a positive AUDIT score and conduct further assessments arranging brief interventions as required.
Support the ALSN to develop and maintain resilient pathways and liaison with local specialist alcohol services and local voluntary and statutory community support services.
Leadership
In conjunction with the Alcohol Liaison Senior Specialist Nurse (ALSN) will be responsible for effective organisation of the department.
Ensure the safe custody and administration of drugs in accordance with established procedure and the law.
Education
To act as a professional supervisor and utilise clinical supervision and reflective practice skills to enhance the development of self and colleagues in the inter-professional team in order to optimise patient care.
Management
Support the ALSN implementing new initiatives to run a cost-effective service monitoring the effectiveness of the service.
Ensure care is assessed and planned in a manner that is consistent with evidence-based practise, policies and procedures.
Clinical Governance Responsibilities
In conjunction with the Sister/Charge Nurse participate in the planning and implementation of quality and risk management initiatives and targets, including CNST, RPST and Controls Assurance requirements.
