We are seeking a dedicated Consultant to join our dynamic neurology department, where you will deliver exceptional clinical, educational, and managerial services at the highest professional standard. Collaborate with a passionate multi-disciplinary team to provide top-tier diagnosis and comprehensive care for patients with multiple sclerosis, all while ensuring adherence to Trust policies and practices.
In this pivotal role, you will:
- Provide direct clinical care across all aspects of the department, engaging in patient management and clinical decision-making.
- Deliver high-quality inpatient in-reach provision, ensuring seamless care for hospitalised patients.
- Work alongside esteemed consultants to maintain a well-led service that prioritizes patient outcomes.
- Co-lead our innovative MS service, guiding our MS nursing team and contributing strategic insights to enhance service development through the adoption of new technologies and treatments.
- There's also an opportunity as a neurologist to join the Surrey out-of-hours stroke telemedicine rota, expanding your expertise and impacting patient care beyond traditional hours.

Main duties of the job
Join our multi-disciplinary team to deliver a comprehensive acute neurology service. This role involves:
- Providing a daily in-reach ward referral service and covering colleagues during their absence.
- Maintaining responsibility for patient care, ensuring safe handovers.
- Supervising nurse specialists in collaboration with other consultants.
- Offering prompt consultations to other specialties as needed.
- Collaborating with medical, nursing, and management teams to enhance clinical leadership and patient experiences.
- Engaging in education, research, audit, and clinical governance activities with a focus on a multi-disciplinary approach.
- Contributing to the training and professional development of both medical and non-medical staff, including supervision of junior doctors and teaching sessions.
- Supporting recruitment, appraisal, and mentoring within the team.
- Undertaking additional duties as required, with changes negotiated and reflected in job plans.

- MBBS or other recognized equivalent medical qualification
- Membership of the Royal College of Physician (MRCP) or equivalent.
- Inclusion in the specialist register for Neurology, or within 6 months of CCT at time of interview.
- Full registration with the GMC

- Relevant higher degree (MD, PhD or equivalent)

- Fully trained in Neurology.
- At least 2 years substantive previous NHS experience at SpR level (or equivalent).
