Job summary
- Provide clinical support, expert care to patients, families and carers undergoing investigations for OG/HPB malignancies.
- As a key worker, provide specialist advice, information and psychological support to patients with a new diagnosis of an OG/HPB malignancy, supporting the breaking bad news discussions.
- Support the faster diagnosis and improved outcomes for patients on an OG/HPB pathway.
- Support patient through the transition of care to the tertiary centre.
- Positively impact the experience of patients and carers by providing high standards of clinical practice.
Main duties of the job
- Support patients through their cancer journey, through diagnosis on to treatment and survivorship.
- Attend the MDT's, providing accurate patient information to help guide well informed treatment decisions. Update patients of MDT outcomes.
- Support consultants in the delivery of a new cancer diagnosis, endoscopy or CT findings with support from senior staff if needed.
- Delivery of Health Needs assessments within 6 weeks of a cancer diagnosis
