BAND 7 EPU LEAD
We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified senior nurse/midwife with early pregnancy experience to join and lead the nursing team in the Early Pregnancy Unit at St Peters Hospital
We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed person who demonstrates a desire for service development, possesses excellent clinical knowledge and leadership skills. The post holder will work closely with the multidisciplinary team across gynaecology, fertility and maternity services.
This post will provide opportunity for personal development in early pregnancy care and expertise as well as operational management of a clinical area.

Main duties of the job
- To lead and support the nursing team and ensure the delivery of an advanced and high quality specialist nursing service for women experiencing pregnancy loss and other gynaecological conditions.
- To provide specialist nursing advice and support to women and their families following diagnosis and through treatment.
- Fully understand the clinical protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), patient information and consent forms.
- Deal with telephone and e-mail enquiries in a professional manner and ensure that all information given is up to date and accurate.
- To ensure provision of a high standard of evidence based nursing care, assessing health, health related and nursing needs of patients, their families and other carers by identifying and initiating appropriate steps for effective caree:

Organising the emergency early pregnancy clinic as well as supporting the recurrent miscarriage clinic
Ordering diagnostic tests
Making and receiving referrals
Admitting and discharging patients for specified conditions within agreed protocols
Performing early pregnancy USS if a recognised CASE accredited USS course has been completed
Supporting the development of an emergency Saturday early pregnancy scanning clinic either as a standalone service or in collaboration with surrounding EPU units in the future
To facilitate the EPU MDT meeting
May be required to support emergency gynaecology scanning once the ambulatory gynaecology unit is operational following appropriate training
- To accept responsibility for own patient caseload, ensuring all women have an accurate plan of care, which reflects the assessment undertaken and incorporates the issues and recommendations made ensuring clear documentation in the patients records and hand held records.
- Support relevant research in collaboration with the Research and Development department.
