Become a specialist Occupational Therapist with us!We have an exciting opportunity fortherapists who are interested in developing specialist skills in neurology.

We offer a variety of rotations, each for approx. 1 year to allow opportunities for personal development and participation in service initiatives.

  • Hyper Acute / Acute Stroke Unit - St Peter's Hospital
  • Stroke Rehabilitation (Phoenix) - St Peter's Hospital
  • Early Supported Discharge for Stroke - community-based with office bases at Ashford Hospital and Milford Hospital
  • Neuro-rehabilitation - Bradley Unit at Woking Community Hospital
  • Community Neuro-rehab - with Central Surrey Health (CSH), bases at Woking and Walton Community Hospitals

NB - We have a post to cover maternity leave and anticipate continuation within our neuro rotations beyond this, however in the event that we are fully established again, there will be continued employment through our general OT rotations.

Main duties of the job

  • Undertake advanced assessments, formulate clinical diagnoses, problem lists and patient led goals, to provide appropriate treatment for patients with neurological conditions which may be acute or sub-acute, complex and / or chronic presentations.
  • Work as an autonomous practitioner to undertake a significant specialist clinical caseload, working without direct supervision.
  • Contribute to board rounds or problem patient sessions to ensure that patients get the right treatment, at the right time in the right place.
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, putting patient care and the patient experience first.
  • Show passion for providing a high level of care and safeguarding to patients in our services.
  • Have the ability to use initiative, communicate with empathy and be an effective team player.
  • Facilitate onward planning and safe discharge from hospital.
  • Participate in the development of Occupational Therapists/Physiotherapists and Assistants within clinical speciality through training, competencies and supervision.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills and deputise for the Team Leads whenever necessary.
  • Actively participate in service development and contribute to monitoring of standards of practice, and take personal responsibility in professional development and professional registration requirements.
  • Participate in specific 7 day working rotas, dependent on the team/area.
