We are excited to announce an available position for a substantive Palliative Consultant and Clinical Lead at Ashford and St. Peters Hospital in Chertsey. This opportunity entails a 10 PA (7DCC-3SPA) role, with remote on-call duties falling under category A medium intensity, providing an additional 5% uplift.

In the capacity of a consultant and clinical lead, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the department's objectives. These objectives encompass an unwavering commitment to enhancing the quality of care for patients with specialist palliative care needs and end-of-life care needs. Additionally, we strive to improve access and identification to our palliative care service and promote seamless coordination of care for patients in the North West Surrey area including collaboration with the Surrey heartlands ICS and Charitable Organisations that provide hospice care.
Main duties of the job
As a Consultant at Ashford & St Peter's Hospital, you will be entrusted to deliver clinical, educational, and managerial services of the highest professional standard to the Department. Collaborating with existing consultants and the multi-disciplinary team, your focus will be on providing a well-led service for patients, encompassing diagnosis, investigations, treatment, and management in accordance with Trust policies and best practices.
You will be actively involved in education, research, audit, and clinical governance activities, collaborating with a diverse, multi-disciplinary workforce across the department. As part of your commitment to excellence, you will actively participate in the professional training of both medical and non-medical staff within the department. This includes contributing to teaching sessions for other hospital staff, as well as undergraduate and postgraduate staff, with an emphasis on supervising junior medical personnel. Verification of teaching certification will be required to support these endeavors.
Additionally, you will play a vital role in supporting recruitment, appraisal, development, and mentoring activities for the multi-disciplinary, multi-professional team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and growth.
