Health Innovation Oxford and Thames Valley are looking for an influential and experienced Chief Medical Officer to join our senior team and Board.

Main duties of the job
The Chief Medical Officer is a varied and diverse role. Duties include:
- Shape and influence regional and national innovation strategy
- Provide expert clinical leadership to our Board and programmes

The Chief Medical Officer will join the HIOTV senior management team which includes the Chief Executive Officer, four programme Directors, Finance manager, Head of Communications and Head of Corporate Affairs and People.
They will hold a seat on the HIOTV Board and bring clinical expertise to the Board and Executive team. They will work in collaboration with the Programme Directors to inform and influence our work and build strategic relationships with clinical stakeholders at a local, regional and national level.
The Chief Medical Officer will provide clinical leadership and oversight to all aspects of HIOTVs work. They will work with partner clinical teams to understand needs and advise the Board and HIOTV Programme Directors on optimising delivery their work.
The Chief Medical Officer will be responsible for:
- Providing authoritative, evidence-based advice to the executive team and HIOTV Board on clinical issues to inform both its strategy and its day-to-day operations. The post holder is therefore required to hold current registration with the GMC and it is desirable to still be practicing some sessions in clinical practice to maintain clinical insight and credibility.
- In collaboration with the senior management team ensuring the delivery of HIOTVs targets and aspirations to accelerate the rate, and increase the scale at which new technologies and developments move into practice.
- Working closely with our NHS commissioners in the HIOTV area being a principal source of contact and liaison with the medical leaders within these structures to understand system needs and advise on programme development and delivery.
- Supporting the CEO build effective relationships and joint working with research structures across the footprint e.g. NIHR Biomedical Research Centres, MedTech and In Vitro Diagnostics IC, Clinical Research Network and Applied Research Collaboration to ensure effective collaboration and an emerging pipeline of research and innovation into practice
- Supporting the CEO and Programme Directors in the delivery of the HINs economic agenda, particularly in identifying the clinical potential of emerging innovations and technologies which may benefit from the various forms of support and development which the HIOTV provides.
- Working with the HIOTV team and with partners to create the conditions in which innovation becomes the norm.
- Undertaking team leadership and line management responsibilities for clinical leads employed by HIOTV including recruitment, appraisal, and support for development.
- Supporting the CEO maintain communication and effective liaison with other Health Innovation Networks.
- Representing the HIN and its partners in regional and national forums.
