Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Registered Nurse Associate to join our Paediatric Critical Care team.
Paediatric Critical Care (PCC) at OUHincludes 17 co-located Level 2 and 3 critical care beds, delivering a wide range of specialist services to patients from Oxfordshire and the wider Thames Valley and Wessex Paediatric Critical Care Operational Delivery Network (TVW PCC ODN). We are a leading Neurosurgical and Major Trauma Centre and have a vast number of medical and surgical specialities.
SORT Retrieval ServiceOUH PCC Services include the SORT (Southampton Oxford Retrieval Team) service, delivered in collaboration with Southampton across TVW PCC ODN. It is staffed by doctors, ACPs and nurses from both Oxford and Southampton, with Oxford providing a retrieval team 24/7.
Critical Care Outreach Serviceis a team of experienced nurses who support all healthcare professionals in the assessment and management of unwell children across the children's hospital, emergency department, and neonatal unit, following up and supporting children and families following discharge.
Education, Development and Trainingis provided through a structured competency-based development programme. Clinical and leadership career development pathways are available. We have a growing team of Advanced Clinical Practitioners who work across PCCU and SORT services at OUH.
Main duties of the job
The nursing associate will:-Have proficient attitudes and behaviours compatible with NHS Values and those of the OUHFT-Work as part of a designated nursing team delivering care that focuses on the direct needs of the individual, supporting registered nurses and non registered practitioners-Be able to appropriately delegate tasks to non registered practitioners-Carry out specific delegated health care tasks and responsibilities to a high standard and competency.-Take responsibility for developing own clinical competence, leadership and reflective practice skills within the workplace.-Have the ability to deliver care independently in line with the individual's defined plan of care, within the parameters of practice of the nursing associate role, accessing clinical and care advice when needed.-Provide, promote and where appropriate advocate for non-discriminatory, person-centred and sensitive care at all times that is high quality, compassionate and safe with a focus on promoting health and independence.-Recognise and report any factors that may adversely impact safe and effective provision of care and know when and how to escalate any concerns when required.-Be accountable for their own actions, working within the limitations of their role-Take responsibility for their own learning and continued professional development
