Consultant Urological Surgeon

Job summary

A whole-time post as Consultant in Urology is available from May 2026 at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The clinical work will include core urology with an upper tract benign and malignant subspecialty interest.

The appointment is on a whole-time basis, but applications are welcome from those who wish to job share

Any person who is unable for personal reasons to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post. Suitably qualified job-share candidates will receive serious consideration.

Main duties of the job

The post holder duties will be split across the Churchill Hospital and Horton General hospital. Presence will be required in other parts of the Trust including the John Radcliffe Hospital. The clinical work will be focused on the delivery of core urology and stone disease.

  • FRCS (urol.) or equivalent CCT in Urology; or Registration on GMC Specialist Register in Urology; or within six months of achieving CCST at the time of interview.

  • Higher Degree

  • Training in Urology to consultant level, with experience in Renal subspecialty (benign and cancer)
  • Ability to make decisions at consultant leve

Skills & Knowledge

Essential

  • Sufficient leadership within an organisation and knowledge of national access targets
  • Communication, professional and personal skills to undertake effectively the role of consultant in Urology in a large teaching hospita
  • Good personal and interpersonal skills
  • Good spoken and written English. Communication skills should be highly developed.
  • Experience of teaching undergraduates and trainees
  • Experience of routine clinical audit
