An exciting opportunity has become available for a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist (full-time or part-time) to join the neurorehabilitation team at the Oxford Centre for Enablement (OCE). The SLT will work collaboratively with our supportive multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality care to patients with complex brain injuries including prolonged disorders of consciousness and long-term neuro-disability. Dysphagia experience is essential.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be a dysphagia-qualified Speech and Language Therapist working across neuro-rehabilitation / acquired brain injury and long-term neuro-disabilities. They willlead projects and developments in this area, and deliver specialist speech therapy assessment, planning and rehabilitation to patients with complex brain injury, covering both inpatients and outpatient services.

Job responsibilities
Be responsible for delivering specialist Speech and Language Therapy input to adults with complex acquired communication disorders and dysphagia as a consequence of traumatic brain injury and progressive neurological illnesses. They will identify, assess and diagnose communication / swallowing impairments and select the appropriate intervention approach for effective, evidence-based therapy.
Work within the multi-disciplinary team and be involved in multi-disciplinary meetings, supporting planning of appropriate therapy and discharges from the unit.
Make independent decisions about caseload management.
Provide second opinions to less experienced colleagues.
Gain extensive clinical experience and expertise to improve and further develop specialist skills through training, support and independent study.
Independently receive students on placement for clinical teaching and supervision.
Be responsible for the supervision of junior colleagues and assistants with support from senior staff as required.
Provide necessary cover for the caseloads of other Speech and Language Therapists during periods of annual / sick leave.
