General Urology Fellow

The closing date is 19 January 2026

Job summary

We are seeking one keen doctor to be a General Urology Clinical Fellow (SpR level) for a fixed term of 4 months (maternity leave cover) to start in April 2026.

You will be part of a busy urology team at the Churchill Hospital Oxford. The department is comprised of 16 consultants, 3 senior clinical fellows, 5 registrars, 4 core trainees, 2 FY2s (one training, one trust doctor (this post)), 2 FY1s, and 1 physician associate. The urology department has 16 beds and 4 triage beds for emergency urology admissions. There is a high patient turnover. The ward is well supported by senior urology triage nurses and an excellent and knowledgeable nursing team.

This post would suit a ST3-7 equivalent doctor seeking more experience.

The post would involve assisting in urology theatre lists, assessing and managing acute urology admissions and emergencies, leading ward rounds, providing oversight of ward management and high-quality care for urology inpatients, outpatient and flexible cystoscopy clinics, and participation in a 1:9 24-hour on call rota. On call activity is supported by a consultant urologist and core trainee.

The timetable includes weekly clinical governance and educational meetings. There are excellent opportunities to become involved in audit, quality improvement projects and research opportunities through the trust and its links with the university.
