Senior Clinical Fellow in Chronic Pelvic Pain

Job summary

The purpose of this post is to provide advanced training in the management of chronic pelvic pain in women in the context of a busy tertiary clinical service. As a result of this training, the post holder will be confident to lead a pelvic pain service in the secondary or tertiary setting, delivering compassionate and effective patient care and training informed by current understanding of both gynaecological pathologies and mechanisms underlying chronic pain.

The post will be for twelve months in the first instance and would be suitable for out of programme training for a post Membership trainee in O&G or for a post CCT candidate. All necessary support and relevant training to complete the RCOG SITM in Chronic Pelvic Pain can be provided during this post.

Main duties of the job

Pelvic pain service commitment

The post holder will be expected to participate fully in the provision of care within the pelvic pain team including outpatient and inpatient care, and telephone and email discussions with patients and GPs. Adult and Adolescent interdisciplinary pelvic pain clinics are delivered each week, with additional doctor only clinics to address medical/gynaecological components of care. The pelvic pain team have regular multi-disciplinary team (MDT) meetings and also provide input into the BSGE accredited Endometriosis Centre and the Urogynaecology Service MDT meetings.

Training

Training will be provided in all areas relevant to clinical practice (aligning with the RCOG SITM in Chronic Pelvic Pain) and including development of skills to assess, investigate and manage CPP.

Audit and research work

The remainder of the time will be used for audit and service development projects or a research project depending on the interests of the postholder.
