Job summary
Applications are invited for the above post(s) to be based at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford starting from October 1st, 2025, for a fixed term period of 12 months, potentially extendable by mutual agreement.
Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (OUHFT) is a major trauma centre and hub for the Thames Valley Vascular Unit (TVVU) which includes two major spoke Trusts (Bucks Healthcare NHS Trust (BHT) and the Royal Berkshire Foundation Trust (RBHFT)) and covers a population of approximately 2.2 million patients. The catchment is large for the number of vascular surgeons and therefore it is one of the busiest units in the UK undertaking the full remit of procedures including: more than 100 aortic procedures (open and endovascular), up to 150 carotid procedures a year, 40 deep venous reconstructions, 50 - 100 lower limb bypass surgeries as well as thoracic outlet surgery and support to the major trauma team.
The unit has a historic reputation for open surgery but also undertakes more complex endovascular work including regular fenestrated and thoracic stent repairs, very distal angioplasty and deep venous arterialisation. The vascular unit also provides a dissection service for complex spinal reconstructions, a carotid body tumour service and the supra-regional abdominal sarcoma service.
