Rotational Trust Grade post in Specialist Surgery

SPECIALITY:
The construct of each post will be agreed with the successful candidates and will feature a combination of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, rotating around 2 specialties. The combination of specialties will be adjusted where possible to enhance each candidate's career plans. The candidates will work under the supervision of the clinical teams they are attached to and will contribute to out of hours work within the specialist surgery directorate.

Main duties of the job
This post offers the successful candidate an opportunity to work in a dynamic hospital in three exciting surgical specialties.
In the Plastic Surgery Department, there is a diverse workload; the subspecialties include trauma, elective hand and upper limb, head and neck, craniofacial, cleft, sarcoma, bone infection, breast reconstruction and skin cancer. The post holder will have exposure to both emergency and elective practice - on the ward, in clinic and in theatre.
In Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery the post holder will have a comprehensive exposure to all aspects of elective and emergency Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at a tertiary centre including maxillofacial trauma, head and neck cancer and reconstruction, salivary gland surgery, temporomandibular joint surgery, dentoalveolar surgery and orthognathic (deformity) surgery. Teaching, training and guidance will be provided to strengthen application towards Core surgical training jobs.
