Job summary

To be responsible for providing skilled clinical and technical assistance as a member of the Plastic Surgery Minor Operations Team to participate in the assessment of patient care needs and implement and maintain agreed standards of care. Following Codes of Professional Practice provide high quality care to patients undergoing treatment within the Peri-Operative Environment

Main duties of the job

o Manage, direct and evaluate the nursing care for a defined caseload ofpatients.o Develop skills to provide senior nurse cover for the unit in the absence of the department Sister or Charge Nurse and associated deputy.o Contribute towards the continuing development of professional nursing practice on the unit.o Maintain and develop high standards of nursing care, reflecting the beliefs about professional nursing practice and patient careo Develop and maintain specialist knowledge of nursing practice relevant to the clinical area.o Involve and encourage the patients family and friends to be actively involved in the caring process.o Communicate effectively information to Patient/relatives/carers/ and all members of the multidisciplinary team.o Work towards acting as a mentor and role model to others, reflecting the beliefs about professional nursing practice and patient care outlined in the unit philosophy.o To conduct yourself in a professional manner and act as a role model to junior staff at all times.o Is proactive in the timely admission / discharge planning of the patients.
