Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated DSN who is already established as a DSN and is eager to develop their clinical and leadership skills. This position offers the opportunity to further develop the service within a supportive and dynamic team across four hospital sites.
Yourunderstanding of people with diabetes and their needs is crucial in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Your role in enabling the support of diabetes care across inpatient and outpatient settings, while liaising with other stakeholders, is vital and greatly valued, both in person and remotely.
Main duties of the job
The service provides comprehensive support for outpatients and inpatients. The main services that are delivered are an antenatal service, a technology service that includes insulin pumps and CGM, and Hybrid Closed Loop technology, consultations, which are face-to-face and remote, DAFNE (Dose Adjustment for Normal Eating), transition, and a Young adult services,with more department innovations on the horizon. The inpatient service is fundamental in prioritising service support in the ED/Emergency Assessment UNIT (EAU) and the Ambulatory Assessment Unit (AAU) and discharges to support the operational and clinical role of the trust. - First level degree (HEI level 5 or 6) in nursing, midwifery or equivalent Completed or completing Master's level (HEI level 7) qualification
- Demonstrable post graduate level working. Relevant specialist post basic programme in area of service
- Teaching / Assessment / Mentoring qualification
- Demonstrates up to date knowledge and expertise in the speciality with knowledge of medications within the service field
- Demonstrates understanding of relevant national strategy / policy and how this relates to the service
