Job summary

Be at the heart of patient care by providing essential support across both the clinicaland administrative areas of the radiotherapy department.

This role offers the opportunity to engage with patients directly whilst also ensuring smooth day-to-dayoperations.

You'll play a vital role in reception, handling patient bookings and coordinating hospital transport for those attending planning and treatment appointments. In addition, you'll take on a variety of clerical, housekeeping, and clerking-in duties, making a real difference in the patient experience and contributing to a well-organised, welcoming environment.

Main duties of the job

Greet patients and visitors in a courteous, professional and friendly manner - providing assistance and guidance and ensuring a warm and reassuring experience

Provide informative first-day discussions to patients, ensuring they feel comfortable, informed, and confident about their treatment journey. Explain the treatment process, answer questions, and offer reassurance to help ease any concerns, creating a supportive and positive experience from day one

Complete end-of-treatment tasks, including EOT letters on the ARIA patient management system and revenue cycle management on EPR

Assist radiographers in both pre-treatment and treatment areas as needed

Help patients with dressing and undressing, offering dignity and care

Provide compassionate toileting assistance and patient care

Assist with ultrasound bladder scanning and pregnancy testing when required

Assist with insertion and removal of cannulas

Identify patients needing routine treatment reviews and schedule appointments with the appropriate clinician, nurse, or radiographer

Coordinate transport bookings and amendments, ensuring patients have seamless travel arrangements

Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in all patients waiting areas

Adhere strictly to departmental policies and procedures

Ensure meticulous record-keeping to support patient care

Understand and comply with Radiation Regulations (IR(ME)R), maintaining safety protocols at all times

  • Education to secondary level with GCSE English and maths or equivalent.
  • Experience in dealing with members of the public

  • NVQ3 in diagnostic and therapy care
