Job summary
This is a unique opportunity to join the ambulatory pharmacy team at Oxford University Hospitals. The Ambulatory service provides clinical pharmacy services to the ambulatory assessment units (or same day emergency care) and the Ambulatory Outreach Team (AOT). AOT encompasses the virtual ward, hospital at home service, Complex OutPatient Antimicrobial Therapy (COPAT) and Covid Medicines Delivery Unit (CMDU).
The post holder will support in providing services to the ambulatory team, whilst developing their own experience in a fast-developing clinical area. There are opportunities to develop clinical assessment skills and be involved in the assessment of patients and delivery of care in their home environments.
Main duties of the job
- To participate in the provision of a safe, effective and efficient clinical pharmacy service to Ambulatory Units and Ambulatory Outreach Teams.
- To work closely with the Ambulatory Outreach Team (AOT)as their services continue to develop, to ensure safe and effective medication practices are adhered to.
- To work flexibly, according to the needs of the service.
- To contribute to the appropriate and timely use of antimicrobials, including 'at home' parenteral antimicrobial therapy.
- To encourage the cost effective use of medicines and to improve the quality of pharmaceutical care for patients.
- To provide specialised professional and technical education to enable the clinical units to meet high standards of patient care and safety.
- To be an active member of the pharmacy department and in the specialist area/Directorate team, and ensure continuous two-way exchange of information to maintain high standards of medicines use within the Trust.
