Job summary

New exciting opportunity for a band 4 Assistant Practitioner position in the Orthopaedic Outpatient Department within the Nuffield Orthopaedic Hospital, allowing a dynamic working environment and development opportunities.

Main duties of the job

As a Band 4 Nursing Associate you will have a great opportunity to build upon your existing knowledge and skills. Being welcomed as part of our dynamic team you will assist the Doctors and Nurses running clinics for adults and children from Monday to Friday. In addition, you will develop skills in orthopaedics and rheumatology allowing you to work within a multidisciplinary setting.

Job responsibilities

  1. Be responsible for assessing the health care needs of the patients. Communicating any concerns to the medical/nursing team which maybe detrimental to the patient care.

  1. To accept responsibility and be professionally accountable for co-ordinating the total nursing care for named patients, throughout their stay.

  1. To promote, and act as role model when communicating with all members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure the best possible care for the patients.

  1. Planning, implementing and evaluating the nursing care for a named group of patients based on sound knowledge and experience- and to actively support the effective implementation of Named Nursing

  1. To assist in orientation of new staff and provide support for other team members, gaining support by participating in / or leading clinical supervision to act as a mentor.

  1. To take an active role in team and department meetings, participate in department and trust teaching programmes thereby contributing to nursing development.

  1. To ensure the NMC, ward and trust policies are known, understood, and implemented, including sickness (Goodshape) and annual leave policies.

  1. Attend mandatory training sessions as required by the Trust and keep an accurate, up to date record.

  1. To act as a facilitator / link nurse for the department in an area of special interest and feedback to the team and ward.
