Job summary

This post is aimed at senior trainees in cardiac electrophysiology who already have experience in catheter ablation and cardiac device implantation who are within 6 months of their CCT. The job is primarily EP Lab-based with one clinic per week (and occasional extras) and specialist EP ward referral duties. The aim is to gain experience in complex ablation (e.g. atrial fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia), developing competence as a solo operator and prepare for a consultant role.

Main duties of the job

  • Responsibility for the care of adult patients undergoing investigation and treatment of heart rhythm conditions
  • Day-to-day running of EP lab lists (patient consent and preparation, list coordination, discharge planning and administration)
  • Support of ablation and cardiac implantable device lists
  • Autonomous "Fellow" EP lists in the lab
  • Presentation and discussion of clinical cases at the multi-professional MDT
  • Participation in research, governance and clinical audit within the unit.
  • Arrhythmia Clinic at OUH and occasionally associated hospitals.
  • Involvement in the training and supervision of junior medical staff in the EP lab, including the teaching of medical and nursing students.
