The Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, part of Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, would like to appoint a Locum Orthopaedic Hand/Upper Limb Consultant Surgeon to join a dynamic team of consultant Upper Limb surgeons.

We have created this post in the hand and upper limb team for a fixed term locum consultant orthopaedic surgeon with a specialist interest in hand surgery to assist the service with elective recovery and meeting the national RTT targets. The appointee will be expected to work flexibly within the hand and upper limb team and participate in the multi-disciplinary team in the management of patients with complex orthopaedic problems. They will be expected to participate in the on-call rota.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking a new full time (10 PA) locum consultant to join our existing enthusiastic and experienced team of hand and upper limb surgeons.

The upper limb team is involved in many innovative initiatives to enhance the provision of hand and upper limb surgery and to continue to work closely with academic colleagues to build the evidence base for orthopaedic procedures.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a first-class team in an active and progressive university hospital environment. The service is closely aligned with the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal sciences at the University of Oxford, with many opportunities for collaboration.

You must be fully registered with the GMC/GDC and hold Licence to Practice and be on the Specialist Register, or within six months of attaining your CCT or equivalent at interview stage.

Any person who is unable for personal reasons to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post. If such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis, in consultation with consultant colleagues. Suitably qualified job-share candidates will receive serious consideration.
