An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Full Time ST1-2 Grade post in Orthopaedic. We have positions available at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre to start on 1st August 2024, fixed term period of up to 12 months initially.
The post holder will work as part of a team of surgeons led by Consultants. This will include ward work ward, clinic and in the operating theatre.
You will cover the specialities of Sarcoma, Rheumatology, Rehabilitation and Spinal as part of the on-call duties. Daily support to the Orthopaedic teams in carrying out the daily ward rounds, patient admissions, orthopaedic POAC out-patient clinics, and opportunities for operating theatre sessions.
The post holder will be required to work a duty rota. The current rota is a 1:15 full shift rota
Applicants must hold a full GMC registration. Applicants must be ALS trained with a valid certificate on appointment.
Main duties of the job
This post is a vacant 12 month fixed term contract. The appointee is to start 1st August 2024. The post holder will work as part of a team with surgeons led by consultants. The duties will be to cover the specialities of Hip and Knee and crosscover into the subspecialities of orthopaedic including Rheumatology, Rehabilitation and Spinal. To provide daily support to the orthopaedic services in carrying out the daily ward rounds, patient admissions, orthopaedic POAC out-patient clinics, with opportunities to assist operating theatre sessions.
The post holder will be expected to contribute to audit projects during
their time in post and will be encouraged to undertake research activities under the supervision of their consultant.
There is a contractual obligation on employers to monitor working hours through robust local monitoring arrangements supported by national guidance, and on individual doctors to co-operate with those monitoring arrangements.
The Junior Doctor will be required to work a duty rota. The current rota is a 1:15 full shift F2/CT/IMT/GPvts tier rota. The post holder will work alongside the foundation-tier doctors, SpR3-8 on the orthopaedic wards and be responsible for sharing the ward workload. The appointee will need to hold a valid ALS certificate from the start of their contract.
It must be accepted that occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances may occur and it may be necessary to change the on-call requirements.
