Job summary

The NMO and the CMS services in Oxford are recognised internationally as world leading centres and because of this have been commissioned as highly specialised services. In order to maintain the present performance, and to meet the increasing demands on these services a database manager is required. It is proposed that this funding is taken from the annual underspend of money received by the Trust for running of the NMO service, and which has the agreement of the Medical Director for the National Commissioning group (NCSTT).

Main duties of the job

This post provides an exciting opportunity to join the two nationally commissioned highly specialised services: Neuromyelitis Optica (NMO), and Congenital Myasthenia Syndrome (CMS) both led in Oxford by Professor Jackie Palace, Dr Isabel Leite and Dr Sithara Ramdas.

The post holder will be funded by the Oxford University NHS Foundation Trust and will be based at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford. The post holder will build on and improve current data collection and analysis of the two services, to improve clinical management of patients under the service across sites, and to report on service activities, service outcomes and standards, and audit the services.

The post holder will be responsible for co-ordinating the collection of NMO/CMS related data from Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the outreach sites and to collaborate with the other NMO centre at the Walton Hospital and the other three rare neuromuscular service sites which the Oxford CMS service is part of, in order to compare and align service standards and reporting structure and justify the commissioning of these services.

They will need to ensure that Oxford and its partners are working to the correct information governance standards and that regulatory procedures are followed.

The post-holder will play a technical role within the Server team, ensuring that the OUH and Service Level Agreements are either met or exceeded, according to the team's agreed objectives and workplans.
