Job summary

The post holder will be responsible for co-ordinating and managing complex clinical data generated from the Neurosciences Intensive Care Unit (Neuro ICU). They will be required to exercise their judgement on a regular basis and be able to highlight and deal with complex and sensitive medical information. They will undertake data collection for the Intensive Care National Audit and Research Centre (ICNARC) case mix programme and Critical Care Minimum Dataset (CCMDS). The post holder will also have responsibility for assisting with the provision of a professional, comprehensive and efficient administrative service for Neuro ICU.

Main duties of the job

Facilitate, conduct and provide full accurate and timely data collection and recording for the Intensive Care National Audit & Research Centre (ICNARC).

Coordinate data collection in the Neurosciences Intensive Care Unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital.

Provide training and ongoing support to clinical members of staff and members of the medical team.

Ensure timely delivery of completed Audit cycles to ICNARC.

Liaise with ICNARC on data validation reports and all other queries.

Facilitate, through audit, the monitoring of standards and development of a high-quality intensive care service within the Thames Valley region, and the sharing of good practice throughout the UK.

Provide administrative and secretarial support to the Neuro ICU team. This includes the Clinical Nurse Manager, Senior Nursing Team and Clinical Support and Performance Manager

  • Educated to GCSE level or above with A-C in Maths and English
  • ECDL qualification or similar
  • Previous NHS experience
  • Experience of data analysis
  • Able to work with complex and sensitive medical information.
  • Accurate minute taking skills
  • Excellent communication skills, organisational skills and ability to manage own time and workload

Desirable

  • Evidence of ongoing personal development
  • Knowledge of NHS patient administrator systems
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
