We have positions for adult, children's and learning disability nursing, as well as midwives.
Main duties of the job
How we will help
We are offering a seconded route into your return to practice with the NMC in all four of our hospital sites in Oxfordshire. Working as a Band 3 HCSW you will refresh your skills and confidence looking after patients, supported by our teams. You will be supported to apply for a place on one of the Return to Practice courses, hosted by a variety of universities. Whilst you are on the programme you will work as a student nurse or midwife, with the support of a practice assessor. On successful completion of the programme and return of your NMC PIN, you will convert to a Band 5 nurse. From here you can expect a preceptorship period as you build your career in the direction you want to go in.
About us
Support available.
As a returner the university fees will be paid for you and will continue to be paid as a band 3 while you train. There is a small community of nurses in the OUH who have already completed their return to practice. We will link you with a previous returner for some buddy support. Whilst you are working as a HCSW you will be able to access role specific training, both in person and online learning. As a student nurse you will be able to attend student specific training, supporting by our Learning Environment team. A full preceptorship programme will be offered on re-entry to the register. You will continue to be paid throughout your training and will transfer from a Band 3 to a band 5 seamlessly. The OUH is committed to continuing professional development and further opportunities are available at degree and master's level.
