Job summary

An exciting opportunity to work within Radiology & develop within the role initially as a Band 2 receptionist and with training and following successful completion of competency Link Grade to a Band 3 Administrator.

The Link Grade Administrator role is essential to ensure the efficient pathway flow of patients through the Radiology department. This post is part of a pool of staff who will help to cover receptions & all Radiology appointments . Without sufficient appointment staff we are unable to support 7 day working that is essential to achieve waiting time KPIs. The post may also help cover the back office which deals with Radiology results on a rotational basis, this role ensures that the correct referring teams are provided with urgent reports in a timely fashion in order to make patient treatment decisions.

Main duties of the job

This role will provide support for bookings of all cancer patient pathways which are seen within radiology, but may also include inpatient, urgent, diagnostic and treatment pathways. All of which have individual KPIs which need to be measured. This post will help ensure 7 day turnaround time for cancer patients. Radiology admin also ensure patient's information is up to date and accurate on both Radiology and Trust wide information systems. They are a further pause in the process for positive patient identification and help to highlight patient ID queries which supports IRMER compliance.

You will be the first point of contact for patients, clinicians and visitors to the department, ensuring a polite and friendly service and that patient details are recorded accurately onto our electronic system, CRIS. You will also be responsible for liaising with clinical staff with regards to patient information. You will deal with enquiries by various methods of media, including telephone, email and an internal intercom system, in a professional and confident manner.

The candidate must ensure all tasks are completed accurately, to ensure patients are attending for their appointments, queries are recorded accurately and information regarding appointments are passed correctly to the administration staff and applicable clinical staff. You will also be responsible for various other administration tasks including, follow up communications with patients that have not attended appointments, courtesy calls and arranging for appointments letters to be dispatched to patients by post.

You must be a good team player, have a flexible approach and have the ability to work proactively and at times using your own initiative. The candidate with have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Experience of working with hospital software is advantageous.

You will work in a busy patient centred department as part of an Administration and Clerical team with good peer group support and with appropriate training provided as necessary.
