Job summary
Due to our increasing workload, we have an opportunity within our research team to work alongside our highly motivated research active Consultants in a variety of trials looking at diabetic macular edema, neurotrophic keratopathy and Uveitis amongst others.
The role involves the management of assigned studies, being fully knowledgeable and responsible to educate and advise patients about their participation in a particular study. Co-ordinate the recruitment, and patient care with accurate collection and recording of the data.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be involved in a variety of ophthalmic trials. Management of assigned studies, being fully knowledgeable and responsible to advise patients about theirparticipation in a particular trial. Co-ordinate recruitment, patient care with collection of specimens and recording of trial data. Assist the Research Sister / Manager in the day to day management of research studies, ensuring they meet legislative and protocol compliance.

- For the relevant studies to liaise with service support colleagues. For example, Pharmaceutical Homecare support and the Oxford Experimental Medicine Clinical Research Facility (EMCRF) at the Churchill Hospital, for blood sampling.
- Be responsible and competent in the extended skills necessary to this role for example: Phlebotomy including the coordination and collection of blood samples for Biomarker and PK. Intravenous cannulation (for Flourescein Angiography / Indocyanine green), and emergency care skills as appropriate e.g management of anaphylaxis.
- Communicate and work collaboratively with ERGO, the Research and Development department, multi-Disciplinary and relevant Primary Care teams.
