Job responsibilities

• Responsibility for the care of adult patients undergoing investigation and treatment of heart rhythm conditions
• Day-to-day running of EP lab lists (patient consent and preparation, list coordination, discharge planning and administration)
• Support of ablation and cardiac implantable device lists
• Autonomous Fellow EP lists in the lab
• Presentation and discussion of clinical cases at the multi-professional MDT
• Participation in research and clinical audit within the unit.
• Arrhythmia Clinic at OUH and occasionally associated hospitals.
• Involvement in the training and supervision of junior medical staff in the EP lab, including the teaching of medical and nursing students.

Qualifications

Essential

• GMC Full Licence to Practice
• MRCP or equivalent

Experience

Essential

• General training in cardiology to registrar year 5 level or equivalent.
• Experience in cardiac electrophysiology (a minimum of 12 months
• Within 6 months of CCT in Cardiology

Desirable

• Experience in transseptal punctures (solo operator). Previous first-operator experience in pulmonary vein isolation ablation. Interest in research with publications. CCT in Cardiology and Cardiac Electrophysiology

Skills & Knowledge

Essential

• Leadership skills
• communication, professional and personal skills to undertake effectively the role of clinical fellow in a large teaching hospital. Good personal and interpersonal skills
• Good spoken and written English. Communication skills should be highly developed.
