Job summary

Are you looking for a job for a few hours a week, and willing to help with a variety of admin tasks?

The Stroke Research Nurses are looking for a third member of their team to help them complete their work professionally to time and target, by you completing some of the background admin tasks so that the nurses can spend their time more efficiently.A typical day may include locating and recording details about participants, downloading imaging, completing paperwork and sending out post. Then you may proceed with designing a poster, and organising some office supplies.All tasks will be explained and taught as required, and nurses will prioritise tasks if required.Based in a spacious friendly office in the JR, you may spilt the hours over a couple of days, as most convenient to you. Main duties of the job

  • Discussing with the research nurse's about the tasks required, and completing in prioritised order
  • Completing the labelling of patient pages in files so all are anonymised, and identifiable with research codes on them
  • Ensuring documentation is completed legibly, accurately and anonymised where appropriate.
  • Downloading and anonimising imaging scans from PACS. Uploading them to trial imaging sites when enabled to do so.
  • Accessing EPR to complete patient data paperwork for research purposes. (e.g. GP details, NOK details).
  • Organising personnel records in trial site files.
  • Helping with the maintenance of the office stationary and supplies.

The post holder will work closely with the Stroke Research Nurses within the Acute Stroke Programme Office, and will liaise as appropriate with other trust-based staff such as IT support services, Stroke Consultants PA, Matrons PA, Estates, University admin offices (non-exhaustive list).

No face-to-face contact with the public is expected in this role, but phone calls are intermittently received within the office from the public, or someone connected to research activity.

The post holder will be required to:

  • Be adaptable, - another task may need to be prioritised to enable the research nurses to respond to urgent activities / queries.
  • Be sensitive to the emotional needs of the public. (e.g. if the public ring the office; or when sending birthday cards to participants we ensure they have not deceased, etc.,)
  • Take clear details about any callers for research nurses to contact later
  • Ask the research nurses for help and clarification as required.
  • Refer appropriate patients- with their permission- to staff running trials approved by the stroke consultant team
  • Collect data from medical records and complete Case Report Forms (CRFs) as required with trial code numbers.
  • Assist with administration of trials and storage of relevant documents
