The OUH is establishing a Total Lung Health Check service for Oxfordshire, and we are looking for a Nurse to lead the team, with the potential to fufli the responisbel assesor role within the TLHC service.
This is a unique opportunity to transform and improve the health of our local populations through a nationally directed initiative - the 'Targeted Lung Health Check' programme. The aim of the project is to provide a lung health check assessment (with low dose CT where clinically indicated) with a view to diagnosing lung cancer at an early stage. CCGs have been selected nationally based on deprivation, presentation of late stage and rates of lung cancer mortality. Patients between the ages of 55 to 74 with a smoking history will be invited to attend for the lung health check. There have been earlier pilots which will provide a wealth of knowledge to learn from.
This work will give the successful candidate an extraordinary opportunity to work with the Programme Manager to lead a team, to deliver a different kind of work to identify asymptomatic people, providing early diagnosis of both lung cancer and other diseases and then planning appropriate follow-up.
This work would require the individual to be able to collaborate with multiple partners including local government, community, primary and secondary care providers. public health and cancer charities.

The overall purpose of the Total Lung Health Check Programme is to enable the early detection of lung cancer in order to save lives.
Role Summary
A high profile, accessible and responsive leader with clinical, staff and service responsibility for the leadership of the Lung Cancer Screening Programme within a defined patient group, who is able to make informed decisions within their own area and scope of professional practice, involving patients and public to ensure agreed standards, objectives and targets are met. The leader should be able to provide exceptional treatment and care to patients throughout their screening process.
- The TLHC Nurse Manager has on-going responsibility for the day-to-day management of TLHC service, including the assessment process, service improvement initiatives, implementation and evaluation of local and national programme standards and service protocols.
- The TLHC Nurse Manager will facilitate innovative and evidence-based nursing practice through professional leadership and supporting the clinical team.
- The TLHC Nurse Manager will act as a credible and professional role model and encourage and empower other staff to develop both personally and professionally and achieve their maximum potential.
- The TLHC Nurse Manager will liaise with all members of the multidisciplinary team and facilitate a collaborative approach to patient care.
- Will potentially act as the Responsible Assessor for the TLHC service.

- To use specialist knowledge and advanced communication skills with patients while reviewing them in the virtual, primary and secondary care setting.
- Will provide empathy and reassurance regarding the sensitive nature of the information being relayed to them.
