Job summary

We are looking for an Injectable Medicines Safety Specialist Pharmacist. This job is a fantastic opportunity for a pharmacist interested in the use of digital technology to reduce medication errors in clinical practice.

We are looking for an individual who is proactive and enthusiastic, with excellent communication skills to become part of the injectable medicines safety team. The post holder will be a key member of a multi-disciplinary team working to implement and optimise drug error reduction software in smart injectable infusion pumps across the organisation.

This is a unique opportunity for a clinical pharmacist looking to expand their professional portfolio, particularly leadership and management experience.

Main duties of the job

In this post, you will be a key member of the injectable safety workstream within the Medicines Safety team. The post holder will be focused on implementing and optimising smart infusion pump technology across the trust. This includes designing and implementing drug-error reduction software, namely interpreting a range of resources to define clinical dosing parameters for drugs administered using smart infusion pumps in a range of clinical areas.

The OUH pharmacy team provide a comprehensive range of pharmaceutical care and extended clinical roles to cutting edge clinical areas. As a pharmacy department, we are closely integrated with clinical teams, divisions and academic institutions which you will utilise to draw together drug libraries for the roll out onto smart infusion pumps.

Qualification

Essential

  • Masters Degree (4 year MPharm or equivalent) in Pharmacy
  • Registered as a pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Post Graduate Certificate in Pharmacy Practice and due to complete the diploma, or equivalent external credentialling via CPPE/ RPS

Desirable

  • Independent Prescriber
  • Edward Jenner Leadership programme or equivalent.

Experience

Essential

  • Direct patient care
  • Quality improvement, service evaluation or audit

Desirable

  • Hospital experience in more than one setting or clinical area

Personal Skills

Essential

  • Organized ,problem solver and accoutable.
