Clinical Psychologist (TTP Regional Lead)

Job summary
The Oxford highly specialised TTP service covers the Thames Valley and Wessex. The post holder will provide psychological therapy to patients and their families affected by TTP, which is an acute life-threatening illness. TTP is very rare with an annual incidence of 2-6 per million people in the UK. TTP has a 30-50% risk of recurring and the post-holder will help patients with this psychologically. People with TTP often have anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. Additionally, they may have neurocognitive symptoms such as word finding difficulties or short-term memory problems.
Main duties of the job
To provide a highly specialised clinical psychology service to adults with thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP); including assessment, intervention, consultation, undertaking research and audit, supervision, and training. To work autonomously as an independent practitioner within defined aims and professional guidelines, fully accountable for professional actions

Oxford University Hospital is a large teaching hospital providing services to Oxfordshire, the BOB ICS region and beyond. As well as integrating into the TTP service, the postholder will join a large clinical health psychology department that employs clinical psychologists, neuropsychologists and assistant psychologist across 30 clinical specialties. The department has strong links with the local training course and provides excellent CPD opportunities.
