Job summary
We currently have a vacancy for an outpatient nursing associate.
We are looking for an individual who is enthusiastic and highly motivated to work within the Urology service. You will work within the outpatient team of nurses, supporting the nurse-led diagnostic interventions and treatments including flexible cystoscopies, prostate biopsies, fiducial marker insertion and investigations and specialist and general clinics.
Main duties of the job
You will be an integral part of our team. The main focus of the role will require you to work closely with the urology specialist nurses, uro-oncology nurses and urology doctors for both the cancer and benign pathways. You will be required to prepare patients for procedures, participate in assisting the clinicians undertaking the procedures and support in the everyday running of the outpatient environment.
You will be supported within your role but also expected to support the unqualified nursing staff to inspire the team within their own clinical roles and individual development. Training will be given to the successful candidate.

- Manage, direct and evaluate the nursing care for a defined caseload of patients.-Communicate effectively information to patients/relatives/carers/ and all members of the multidisciplinary team.- Maintain and develop high standards of nursing care, reflecting the beliefs about professional nursing practice and patient care commensurate with The Oxford Model for Exemplary Professional Nursing and Midwifery Practice.- Develop and maintain specialist knowledge of nursing practice relevant to the clinical area- Undertake the responsibilities associated with being a mentor and preceptor reflecting the beliefs about professional nursing practice and patient care commensurate with the Oxford Model for Exemplary Professional and Nursing and Midwifery Practice.- Contribute towards the continuing development of professional nursing practice in the department.- Conduct oneself in a professional manner and be a role model to less experienced/nonregistered and new staff at all times.- Develop skills to provide senior nurse cover for the department in the absence of the sister or Charge Nurse and Team Leader.- Work proactively to ensure every hospital visit meets the needs of the patient .
